Heart of Texas Teacher Consultants work together with schools and districts to design extended packages of offerings that meet the needs of teachers. These experiences engage teachers in continuous, connected learning across time and build leaders in the teaching of writing. Heart of Texas Writing Project teacher consultants model writing workshop sessions in K-12 classrooms, coach teachers to design and implement curriculum in process writing, and support teachers as they engage in professional inquiry, reflection, and revision of their practices in the teaching of writing.
The Heart of Texas Writing Project is a network of teachers experienced in designing and leading professional development for Austin area teachers in the teaching of writing. This professional development takes a number of different forms: workshops, courses, writing groups, reading groups, summer institutes, and onsite coaching of teams of teachers. We design in-depth teacher learning experiences that is responsive to teachers and supportive of their growth in process writing pedagogy.
