Heart of Texas Writing Project

The Heart of Texas Writing Project is an organization of educators committed to the improved teaching of literacy skills throughout Austin area schools. We are a National Writing Project site within a network of more than 200 university-based professional development programs throughout the country. At a national level, NWP and HTWP envision a future where every person is an accomplished writer, engaged learner, and active participant in a digital, interconnected world.

Our local network, here in Austin, of K-12 and higher ed teachers, spans more than 10 public school districts, charter and private schools in the Austin area and provides high-quality, on-going professional development and community for our 200+ active Teacher Consultants.
