Automated Western Blotting – Jess

Traditional western blotting is being replaced by instruments, such as the Jess, that allow the process to be automated. This automation of protein separation and immunodetection eliminates many of the tedious, error-prone steps of traditional Western blotting, which have previously limited data quality. In addition, the Jess allows for total protein staining thereby providing an alternative to the use of housekeeping proteins. Samples and reagents are simply loaded into a microplate and inserted into the instrument. The Jess separates proteins by size, and precisely manages antibody additions, incubations, washes and even detection, all of this in only 3 hours.
