A small Austin-based start-up, VUV Analytics Inc., has generously provided the HIP lab with one of their novel universal vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) spectroscopic detectors for use with gas chromatography (GC) to explore potential applications. This unique detector harnesses the unique capabilities of VUV light to provide distinctive spectral signatures of analytes in the gas phase leading to unambiguous compound identification and quantitative analysis. Currently, methods are being developed for targeted metabolomics involving fatty acids and amino acids. Feel free to reach out if you are interested in pursuing other applications using this technology, collaborations are always welcome!
