Prospective Undergrads

Undergraduate Research Opportunities

Working as an undergraduate research assistant (RA) can give you valuable experience in child mental health research. It might also give you insight into your own interests and looks great on a resume for medical school or graduate school in psychology, social work, counseling and related fields. Additionally, as an undergraduate RA in the LEAP lab, you can receive course credit through Undergraduate Studies, Educational Psychology, or the Bridging Disciplines program. Undergraduate RAs are asked to dedicate 8-10 hours weekly to the lab for the course of one year/two semesters.

If you are a Psychology or HDFS Honors student interested in writing a thesis with Dr. Bearman:

  • Start working in the lab two semesters before the thesis will need to be written
  • Let Dr. Bearman know you will be writing an Honors thesis at least one semester before it is due
  • Limited availability so get involved in the lab as early as you can!

If you are a Bridging Disciplines student interested in our lab:

  • Majority of your grade will come from research activities (lab meeting attendance, assisting with data collection and outreach to schools, clinics and/or other participants)
  • 20% of your grade will come from a reflection journal about your experiences in the lab

Undergraduate positions are currently available for Summer and Fall 2024! If you are interested in working as an undergraduate RA, please do the following:
