Autonomic Control of Circulation Laboratory

Dr. Stone’s laboratory is recruiting highly motivated applicants to fill a postdoctoral research fellowship in the area of autonomic control of circulation. Dr. Stone specializes in the reflexive cardiovascular responses to exercise in both health and disease, specifically diabetes. The successful applicant will participate in collection, analysis, and interpretation of data pertaining to the current NIH funded project on the temporal effects of inflammation on the autonomic control of circulation during exercise in type 2 diabetic rats. Research protocols will include in vivo measurements of heart rate, blood pressure, renal sympathetic activity, and single fiber afferent activity during muscle contraction, von Frey testing, blood draws, animal dissection and surgery, as well as ELISA and Western blot analyses. Qualifications:

PhD in cardiovascular physiology, exercise physiology, or related field.

Less than 5 years of prior postdoctoral experience

Strong written and verbal skills

Experience handling rodents

Experience with in vivo experiments

Techniques such as Western blotting and ELISA are desirable
