Join the Lab
Interested in volunteering as an undergraduate research assistant?
We are inviting motivated and reliable students to work in the laboratory. If you are planning on applying to graduate school or medical school, this will be a great opportunity to build your resume and to preview what the research is all about. You can acquire a unique set of experimental skills as well as critical thinking skills (via weekly journal clubs). Undergraduate students will work primarily with one of the graduate students for a specific project.
Duties may include literature search, subject screening, data collection, data entry, and data analyses. Attendance in the weekly laboratory meeting/journal club is required. Research assistants will work anywhere between 5 and 10 hours a week in the laboratory. While working in the laboratory, you can register for “KIN327R Fieldwork: Lab Research” for class credits.
Students who have successfully completed the research tasks can expect a good letter of recommendation that is tailored specifically for what you have accomplished in the laboratory. Additionally, you may be listed as a co-author on poster presentation and/or paper if you have contributed substantially to the project. Preference will be given to those who are able to commit to working at least two semesters and who have a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or higher.
