The Kid’s Lab studies sociocultural and family factors that influence children’s social, emotional, and neurological development. We study both healthy trajectories as well as factors that increase risk for later mental health problems. Our work integrates developmental, behavioral, sociocultural, psychophysiological (RSA, PEP), and neurological (EEG, fNIRS) approaches to study development in early life.

An additional main area of focus in our lab is to understand how the sociocultural background of Latinx children serves as a strength factor in the face of social inequalities and early adversity.
