About Us
Directed by Dr. Seth J. Schwartz, the Culture Family and Health Lab studies how identity, culture, and family processes influence psychological well-being. Much of our work focuses on immigrant populations, especially crisis migrant populations such as Venezuelans fleeing the Maduro government, Ukrainians escaping the Russian invasion, and Puerto Rican survivors of Hurricane Maria who relocated to the U.S. mainland. We have also begun conducting research on U.S. citizens and their reactions to immigration.
Our long-term goals involve informing interventions and policies to promote the effective integration of immigrants into U.S. society, as well as helping U.S. citizens to become more comfortable with immigration.
Current Research Projects
We are actively researching the following topics:
- Positive Psychology and Diverse Communities
- Mental Health Among Crisis Migrants from Conflict/War Zones
