DVISD currently has 12,328 students enrolled across 14 schools and employs eight school psychologists. Their mission is to create a bi-literate academic foundation by providing a future-ready education with real-world opportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>DVISD is located southeast of Austin, Texas and serves a student population that is 44.3% emerging bilingual and 88.9% of students classified as economically disadvantaged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We are fortunate to have fantastic supervisors who are a part of TRACSS!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:23px\"><strong>Supervisors<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.edb.utexas.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/183\/2023\/07\/image002-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-30\" style=\"width:140px;height:187px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sites.edb.utexas.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/183\/2023\/07\/image002-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/sites.edb.utexas.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/183\/2023\/07\/image002-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/sites.edb.utexas.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/183\/2023\/07\/image002-1152x1536.jpg 1152w, https:\/\/sites.edb.utexas.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/183\/2023\/07\/image002-1536x2048.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/sites.edb.utexas.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/183\/2023\/07\/image002-68x90.jpg 68w, https:\/\/sites.edb.utexas.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/183\/2023\/07\/image002-scaled.jpg 1920w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Dr. Ivonne Estrella<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. Ivonne Estrella is currently a Bilingual School Psychologist at Del Valle ISD.&nbsp; Dr. Estrella provides consultation, counseling, and assessment support across the district.&nbsp; She obtained her M.Ed. and Ph.D. from Texas A&amp;M College Station where she specialized in Bilingual\/Multicultural Special Education.&nbsp; She completed a pre-doctoral internship at the University of Texas at Austin\u2019s Texas Child Study Center\/Dell Children&#8217;s Medical Center.&nbsp; Within this setting, she provided outpatient therapy, psychological services (e.g., ER assessments, inpatient rehab counseling, hypnosis to treat functional abdominal pain), and neuropsychological assessment.&nbsp; Dr. Estrella\u2019s training has also included providing School Psychology services abroad in Queretaro Mexico, conducting psychoeducational assessments in rural areas, and providing counseling services at low-income community clinics.&nbsp; In her free time, Dr. Estrella enjoys spending time outdoors with her Siberian Husky, painting, gardening, and playing Tetris.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.edb.utexas.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/183\/2025\/01\/DGiroux_24-12-19_17-20-56-785-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-240\" style=\"width:148px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sites.edb.utexas.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/183\/2025\/01\/DGiroux_24-12-19_17-20-56-785-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/sites.edb.utexas.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/183\/2025\/01\/DGiroux_24-12-19_17-20-56-785-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/sites.edb.utexas.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/183\/2025\/01\/DGiroux_24-12-19_17-20-56-785-1152x1536.jpg 1152w, https:\/\/sites.edb.utexas.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/183\/2025\/01\/DGiroux_24-12-19_17-20-56-785-1536x2048.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/sites.edb.utexas.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/183\/2025\/01\/DGiroux_24-12-19_17-20-56-785-68x90.jpg 68w, https:\/\/sites.edb.utexas.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/183\/2025\/01\/DGiroux_24-12-19_17-20-56-785-scaled.jpg 1920w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Dr. Deborah Giroux<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Deborah earned a doctoral degree in School Psychology from the University of Texas at Austin in 2008, with a dissertation on the therapeutic effects of a depression screening protocol for middle school girls. She holds undergraduate degrees in both Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Music from Southwestern University and worked as a paralegal for nine years before transitioning to psychology.&nbsp;Austin had no child\/adolescent doctoral psychology internships in 2007, so after talking with psychologists at ASH, ACGC, Gardner Betts, and several surrounding&nbsp;school districts, Deborah persuaded staff at Del Valle ISD to create an internship.&nbsp; DVISD was able to meet the surprisingly challenging internship requirements, namely, hiring 2 interns, providing compensation, and having 2 licensed psychologists to provide supervision.&nbsp; After completing an internship at Del Valle ISD, Deborah continued her career there and now serves as Lead School Psychologist.&nbsp;Partnering with local&nbsp;universities to host school psychology practicum students and&nbsp;interns and guiding the team keep her on her&nbsp;toes. In her&nbsp;free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and has a passion for native plants, gardening, and birding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Dr. Roxana Mendoza<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Dr. Hilary Reeves-Schmidt<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>TRACSS has partnered with Del Valle ISD (DVISD) as the off-campus training site for trainees.
