Dr. Edward F Coyle
Dr. Coyle is a Professor in the Department of Kinesiology & Health Education at the University of Texas at Austin. He directs the Human Performance Laboratory, and his research focuses on the metabolic and cardiovascular factors that limit aerobic exercise performance. Recently, he has investigated the cardio-metabolic effects of prolonged sitting and the amount of exercise needed to counteract the negative health consequences of daily sedentary behavior. Furthermore, he measures maximal neuromuscular power output over a few seconds of maximal cycling as a decline in an athlete’s maximal power output is a sign of overtraining.
