African American students and No Child Left Behind legislation: Progression or digression in educational attainment.\u00a0<em>Multicultural Learning and Teaching<\/em>,\u00a03(2).<\/p>\n<p>The No Child Left Behind (NCLB) federal legislation has dramatically changed the way schools and\u00a0school districts measure\u00a0educational attainment\u00a0for all students. In this article, the researchers examine whether African Americans have progressed or digressed in their educational attainment five years after the implementation of NCLB. To provide a\u00a0clear picture on the status of educational attainment for African American K12 public school students across the United States, an\u00a0analysis of data\u00a0from the National Assessment of Educational\u00a0Progress\u00a0(NAEP) was utilized. This analysis was grounded in the theory of\u00a0structural\u00a0inequality.
