Why? Many factors are at work, including\u00a0educational inequalities,\u00a0neighborhood effects,\u00a0workplace discrimination,\u00a0parenting,\u00a0access to credit,\u00a0rates of incarceration, and so on. These researchers confirm the stark differences in upward earnings mobility for black men compared to both black women and whites. They confirm that black women, despite their solid earnings mobility, have very low family income mobility.
