The article discusses a study on the effectiveness of Web-based mentoring in addressing the academic and affective needs of African American male students. Web-based mentoring is also known as electronic (e)-mentoring and has resulted from the emergence of electronic (e)-mail communications. K-12 schools have been using e-mentoring to connect their students with experts who can offer guidance, support, and intellectual resources that are related to school-based projects. The study was conducted to determine whether Web-based technology could replace traditional face-to-face communication.
