The goal is to help participants build and preserve bone mineral density through progressive resistance training and impact loading, the two forms of exercise with the strongest evidence for improving bone health. Bone FIT is offered in-person on campus.

Bone FIT is designed for adults ages 20–80, and is especially suited to those who are pre-, peri-, or post-menopausal, or who have been told they are at risk for low bone density. No prior exercise experience is required. Classes are capped at 6–8 participants so that every session is closely supervised, and our instructors will scale each exercise up or down to match where you are.

Bone FIT at UT — 2 in-person classes per week (30 minutes each) held on campus in Bellmont Hall. The program runs 12 months and we hope participants to complete 90 total sessions.

To participate you need to be in good health and injury free. We will ask you to complete a PARQ and waiver before you begin. We may require a doctor’s clearance, if significant risks are identified. Because the program includes impact loading, please tell us during your consultation if you have a history of spine or hip fracture, a diagnosis of osteoporosis, or any spinal condition. We will adjust your program accordingly and may ask for clearance from your physician.

What else is included?

Pre and Post DXA scans (Bone Density FIT and Body Comp FIT) — the 12-month program length means your post-scan comes at the interval where real change in bone density can be measured

Free lockers

Scheduling & Pricing

Session Dates and Schedule: The next session of Bone FIT begins Tuesday, October 13th, 2026 and ends Friday, October 8th, 2027.
